Jerry Fogleman

Jerry Davis Fogleman, of Cypress, passed away on March 12, 2023, after a long and full life at the age of 88. Jerry was born Feb. 26, 1935, in Teague, to Hazel and Ray Fogleman, and was the youngest of three children.

After graduating from Teague High School in 1954, Jerry pursued his education, attending Divinity School, Lon Morris Junior College, and the University of Texas at Austin. He also served in the Army as a field photographer.

Jerry’s career included working at Baylor Hospital in Dallas as a medical photographer and later joining Michelin Tire Corporation, where he excelled as a truck tire sales manager and then moved to their map and guides division. In the spring of 1965, at First United Methodist Church, Jerry met Nancy Edmiaston, the love of his life, whom he affectionately called “my girl.”

They were married F ogleman just six months later, and together they raised three daughters, Laurie, Julia and Cyndi. In 2000, Jerry retired from a long and successful career, determined to spend the rest of his life traveling the world with Nancy and sharing his love of our country and National Parks with his grandchildren.

They visited 52 countries, the majority of the 50 states, and all but a few National Parks.

Jerry had a heart of gold and a genuine sense of caring.

He had a way of making everyone feel important and cared for, always taking the time to inquire about others and offer his assistance. His ability to capture hearts will be dearly missed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy Joann Fogleman, his parents Raymond and Hazel Fogleman, his brother, William J. Fogleman, and his sister, Roberta Umberfield. He is survived by his daughters, Laurie McCarty (Robert), Julia Jacobs (Michael), Cyndi Bloodworth; and his grandchildren, Joshua Fogleman, Austin Jacobs, Bailey Bloodworth, Madison Jacobs and Connor Mc-Carty.

Please join us as we celebrate the life of Jerry and honor his memory at a memorial service, which will be held at Cornerstone Methodist Church, located at 18081 West Rd., Houston, TX 77095, on April 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the Grand Canyon Conservancy or Cornerstone Methodist Church.
