Jerry Christian

Funeral services for Jerry Christian, 77, of Teague, were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Scott Matthews will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Jerry Christian passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022.

She was born in Waco, on Jan. 24, 1945, to Fred and Mildred Baker.

During the summers of her teenage years, Jerry would visit her grandparents in Teague where she met her sweetheart, John.

Following Jerry’s graduation from South Houston High School in 1963, she and John were married and made their first home in Houston. She attended Gulf Coast Business school where she received a certificate in keypunch operation.

Afterward, she was employed by Shell Oil Company. In 1968, John and Jerry moved back to Teague, where they made their home for the remainder of their 54 years together.

While living in Teague, Jerry was employed as a teller and a loan officer at Freestone Credit Union for numerous years.

Jerry was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Nana, a title she proudly owned. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to their many family gatherings.

Jerry was survived by her husband of 54 years, John Christian of Teague; three daughters, Tracy Inderman and husband Adrian of Teague, Cheryl Allison and Steven Rogers of Teague, and Jana Watts of Colorado Springs; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey Langley and husband Dylan, Kaylee Crockett and husband Emilio Martinez, Logan Allison and fiancé Alyvia, Lawson Allison and girlfriend Maylee, all of Teague, Sydney, Allie, and Carson Watts of Colorado Springs, Brent Inderman and wife Chelsea of Liberty Hill, and Megan Leija and husband Rodger of Fairfield; eight great-grandchildren, Creed and Harlow Martinez, Lonnie Allison, Hollis and Briar Inderman, Jase Long, Hadleigh and Liam Leija; one brother, Jimmy Baker and wife Betty of Santa Fe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Fred Baker; her mother, Mildred Baker; and one brother, David Baker.

Pallbearers are Logan Allison, Lawson Allison, Carson Watts, Dylan Langley, Emilio Martinez, and Brent Inderman.
