Jacqueline Utsey

Graveside services for Jacquline Utsey were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct.11, at Dew Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Gillet officiated, and members of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 157 Buffalo gave graveside honors.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Jacquline Annette Utsey, 52, passed away at the Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana on Sept. 29, 2021.

She was born Dec. 9, 1968, in Garland, to Jesse Allen Wright and Norma Sue Wilson Wright. Jacquline was raised in Ranger and later moved to Dallas prior to moving to Teague. She married her husband, Linden Utsey in March 2002. While residing in Teague, Jacquline worked for Jonny Moore Welding Corporation for four years. She then took a Postal Service Temp position and worked at the Teague, Buffalo, Jewett and Fairfield offices as a Rural Mail Carrier for seven years.

Jacquline served the City of Teague beginning in May 2005 as an alderman, then in mid 2007, in the vacancy of the mayor, she served as the active mayor pro tempore, and followed by being elected as mayor in May 2008 serving out her term until 2010. Jacquline was the first female elected as mayor of the City of Teague.

Jacquline was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She could do anything she put her mind to. She once wrote a short poem about her husband, winning first place.

Jacquline enjoyed cookin and was known at the Masonic Lodge for her banana pudding. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished time outdoors with them. Jacquline was always by Linden’s side at the car races and they went places that they could both attend.

Jacquline was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Sue Wright.

She is survived by her husband, Linden Utsey of Teague; three sons, Bennitt Talmage Wade Richardson and wife Amber of Waco, Donald Richardson of Ranger, and Joseph Richardson of Teague; one step-son, Jody Utsey and wife Amanda of South Carolina; six siblings, Lon Wright, Jesse Wright, LeAnn Barnett, Wade Pilcher, Mark Pilcher, and Suzanne Carlson; grandchildren, Caleb Richardson, Ayden Richardson, Keegan Richardson, Bennitt Richardson, Jr., and Lilly Ann Utsey. Jacquline had several brothers and sisters in law of the Utsey family. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.
