JACKIE R. COCKERHAM

Funeral services for Jackie R. Cockerham, 82, took place Friday, March 19, 2021, at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Roy Prather will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Cockerham passed away Monday, March 15, 2021, at her residence in Teague.

She was born in Custer City, Oklahoma, but lived in numerous locations as a child, moving with her father’s work. She graduated high school in Wichita, KS.

Jackie met Donny Cockerham in Mart in the early 1970’s and the couple married on Oct. 2, 1976, and made their home in Teague.

She worked for W. A. Keils, Attorney at Law, for several years, Carol’s Answering Service, and as the Director for the Teague Housing Authority for many years.

Jackie liked to travel and enjoyed scrap booking, but most of all loved being “Me-Maw” to her grandchildren. Mrs. Cockerham was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Donny Cockerham of Teague; six children, Nikki Hullum of Teague, Walsie Hodge of Waco, Trena Forman of Bossier City, LA, Debbie Diaz and husband Cande of Waco, Terry Lancaster and husband Rusty of Carthage, and David Hodge and wife Lori of Branson, MO; eleven grandchildren, Ethan Hullum, Caiden Hullum, Brian Hodge, Brandi Pickett and husband Heath, Natasha McGuire and husband Clay, Stephanie Brown and husband Scott, John Christian Diaz and wife Becca, Heather Commiato and husband Allen, Matt Lancaster and wife Mandy, Russell Lancaster, and Benjamin Hodge; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Landers of Wichita, KS; two sisters-in-law, Carol Clary of Baytown and Linda Ferguson of Teague; one brother-in-law, Ronny Cockerham and wife Debbie; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Cockerham was preceded in death by one son, Roy Hodge; her father, John Henry Snider; her mother, Easter Snider Mathis; her step-father, Leston Mathis; one sister, Virginia Beck; two brothers-in-law, Tom Beck and Bob Sanders; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elzy and Pearl Cockerham.

The family requests memorials be made to Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 201 S. 8 th Ave, Teague, TX 75860.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Texas Home Health Hospice and Maegan Perez, RN, for the outstanding care given to Jackie.
