HATTIE RAYE LOTT

Hattie Raye Lott, 95, a lifetime resident of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, at her home.

Mrs. Lott was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Freestone County to parents William Lee and Ruthie Viola Barnes Smith. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 17, at Capps Memorial Chapel with grandsons Sid Lott Jr., the Rev. Jason Charles and Dr. David Lott officiating. She was laid to rest following services at Shanks Cemetery near Kirvin. Raye accepted Jesus into her heart when she was just a young mother. Ever since that day she wanted everyone (young and old) to hear about the Lord. She prayed constantly for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a true prayer warrior.

Raye loved helping people so she decided to become a nurse. She worked at various hospitals and nursing homes. She retired from the Mexia State Hospital. After retiring, she began sitting with people in their homes. She did this until she was 81 years old. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond Lott Jr., Ray Lott and Arthur Lott; three daughters, Jean Charles; Mona Bradley and Ara Lee Lott Bates; a grandson, Jonathan Charles; and a great-grandson, Roland Allen.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Eloise Taylor of Mansfield and Darlene Hughes of Mt. Pleasant; six sons, Jack Lott of Tyler, J.T. Lott and wife Erline of Eddy, Floyd Lott and wife Sherry of Frankston, and Oscar Lott and Sid Lott, both of Fairfield; and son-in-law, James Bradley of Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly and the love was returned.
