Army, and returned to Freestone County where he made his home in Teague. He married Iva Nicholas on January 24, 1954, and shared over sixty-six years of marriage together. He worked as a pipeline inspector, then later as a general contractor and owned Jacks’ Manufacturing then Carroll Lumber in Teague. His contributions to the community can be seen in the numerous homes he constructed in and around Freestone County from 1973 until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Carroll was well known for his sense of humor, big smile, and big cigars. He was a longtime cattle rancher and loved to Rodeo. He and Iva spent many weekends participating in Rodeos and was a member of numerous Rodeo Associations all over the country. Mr. Carroll served as President of the Teague Rodeo Association for almost two decades. Glendon was a very accomplished calf roper, having won numerous championships, buckles, and saddles during his lifetime. He continued to rope into his early seventies. Glendon loved horses and spending time with his grandchildren, and in spite of his Alzheimer’s in his later years, he really enjoyed seeing his great-grandchildren. Mr. Carroll was a member of First Baptist Church of Teague.
