EARL RAY SOLLEY

Funeral services for Earl Ray Solley will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Bubba Rutherford will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Union Cemetery near Freestone.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Thursday beginning at noon at the funeral home.

Mr. Solley, age 74, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at his residence in Cotton Gin.

He was born in Teague on September 23, 1945. He grew up in Fort Worth but returned to Teague and married Doris on March 26, 1966, and shared over fifty-three years of marriage together. Earl Ray was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Bobby Rutherford for many years. He also worked for Dub Brumlow and James Bumpurs. Mr. Solley was a great mechanic and could fix anything. He loved old cars and enjoyed spending hours in his garage rebuilding them. Earl Ray was eager to help people when he could, he especially was known for stopping to help someone change a flat tire. Mr. Solley enjoyed drawing, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Solley of Cotton Gin; one daughter, Tammy Dobson & husband Randy of Shiloh; two sons, Tony Solley and Doug Solley & wife Nicole all of Cotton Gin; ten grandchildren, Randall Dobson & wife Crystal, Brittany Dobson, Colton Dobson, Michael Woodall, Johnathan Solley, Kevin Solley, Thomas Earl Solley, Skylar Solley, Blaine Solley, and Blaiklee Solley; a special “granddaughter in love”, Gina Gilchrest & husband Joey; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee Dobson, Brianna Dobson, Riley Dobson, Alexis Dobson, Bentley Dobson, Lincoln Dobson, Sara Gilchrest, and Tyler Gilchrest; two brothers, Roger Solley & wife Joyce of Fairfield and Danny Solley of Mexia; one step-brother, Terry Gray; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Solley was preceded in death by his mother & step-father, Vergie & C. O. Caffey; his father, Ludy Solley; three sisters, Linda Solley, Lori Ann Solley, and Sandra Joyce Solley; and one brother, Larry Solley.
