DENNIS WODTKE

Dennis Wodtke was born in Campbell Hill, Illinois, on April 9, 1953. He passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his residence in Jewett.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak and Governor Abbott’s orders regarding public gatherings, most of the family was not present. You are encouraged to utilize our online guestbook registration.

Wodtke grew up in Illinois and went to work as a drag line mechanic in the mining industry. His job took him to Jewett where he worked for the mine for some thirty years. Dennis married Carol in August of 1992, and shared over twenty-seven years of marriage together. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and made numerous trips to the annual biker rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, as well as other biker events. Wodke was also a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending races as well as watching them on TV. He also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Wodtke of Jewett; one son, Brian Wodtke & wife Judith of Buffalo; one daughter, Amanda Mendez & husband Alex of Jewett; two step-daughters, Tobi Guerrero & husband Luis, and Becky Hullum & husband Jason all of Teague; one step-son, Rob Moore & wife Becky of Burleson; twelve grandchildren, Nick Brown, Francis Steward, Chole Steward, Eldrea Steward, Alexa Mendez, Kori Guerrero, Haley Guerrero, Macy Guerrero, Sarah Dawson, Ethan Yoder, Jacob Moore, and Jason Moore; one brother, Wayne Wodtke of Richmond, Virginia; one sister, Kathy Bower & husband Steve of Ava, Illinois; one niece, Erica Stallings; one nephew, Matt Bower; and his beloved dog, Lily.

Wodtke was preceded in death by his father, George Wodtke and his mother, Lucille Wodke.
