David E. Cavin

David E. Cavin, 66, of Teague, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at the Freestone Medical Center in Fairfield.

He was born on June 2, 1956, in Wichita, KS, the son of Robert (Bob) and Virginia Cavin. He graduated from Arma High School, Arma, KS, with the Class of 1974.

David worked for the Westmoreland Coal Mine from 1986 until he retired in 2018.

David was a devoted husband, father and papa. He enjoyed golfing, dove hunting, skiing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas University Jayhawks.

He is survived by his wife, Laura (Susie) Cavin of Teague; one son, John Cavin; his granddaughter, Emily Cavin; three brothers, Robert, Wesley and Roger; one sister, Sheila; and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Robert (Bob) Cavin; one son, Justin Cavin; and his father-in-law, James W. Wood Sr.

The Rev. Gilbert Williams conducted funeral services atg 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
