Funeral services for Barbara (Bobbie) Armstrong were held on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Jerry Jones officiated. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery. Armstrong passed away on Friday, Jan. 5 at the St. Catherine Center in Waco. She was born on March 24, 1921 in Hill County where she was raised. She married William Armstrong at the age of sixteen in Hillsboro. They moved to Teague in 1947 and resided in Freestone County almost all of their lives. She worked as a certified medical aid at McGee Nursing Home in the mid-1970s and later worked at the Mexia State School for ten years until her retirement. She was a foster grandparent for several years and a longtime member of Teague Church of Christ. Bobbie enjoyed collecting dolls, crocheting and cooking for her family. Armstrong is survived by two daughters Joy Kennedy and husband Bobby of Groesbeck, and Connie Wilson of Waco; fourteen grandchildren, Russ Garrett, Rick Garrett, Rhonda Bruhin, Michael Armstrong, Jeff Armstrong, Rhonda Fraga, Matt Kennedy, Kerrie Cobb, Kristy Earnest, Chris Burkhart, Erin Betts, Meghan Sage, Ryan Wilson, and Ashley Garwood; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Pullen and husband Don of Pearland; one sister-in- law, Mary Ann Allen of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Armstrong; mother, Beulah Allen; son, James Armstrong; daughter, Patsy Garrett; two brothers, Charles Allen and Howard Allen; very special brother-in-law, Leslie Armstrong; and son-in-law, Gary Wilson.
