Albert Lee McCord
Graveside services for Albert Lee McCord will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. at Parker Cemetery near Grapeland. Clovie McCord will officiate and Military Honors will be given by the United States Marine Corps.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday at the Parker Cemetery Chapel beginning at 1 p.m.
Mr. McCord passed away on Monday, Jan. 20. 2025, at Teague Nursing Home.
He was born in Crockett and grew up in Grapeland, moved to the Fort Worth area for his high school years where he excelled in football and Golden Gloves boxing. After high school, Albert enlisted in the Marine Corps on Aug. 6, 1957, and served in Japan and Korea. He was a proud Marine and once again excelled playing football and boxing in the Corps. He received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on Aug. 4, 1961, and fully released as a reserve on Aug. 5, 1963. After his time in the Marines, he lived in California where he studied and learned the trade of underwater welding and became a pipefitter. He returned to Texas and spent most of his career with a sub-contractor of DOW Chemical in Brazoria and retired as superintendent. He moved to Kirvin in 2017, after suffering damage from Hurricane Harvey.
He is survived by two nephews and one niece, Clovie Don McCord and wife Donna, Tena Mabile and husband Todd, and Shade McCord, all of Kirvin; great-nephews and great-nieces, Micah Brandon McCord and wife Gabi, Shelby McCord, Erin Rae Tacker and husband Bud, Heather Elizabeth Dusenberry and husband Billy, Holden Tate McCord, and Hannah Michele McCord; numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. McCord was preceded in death by his parents, Burnard McCord and Margie Musick; two brothers, Shade Carlton McCord and Arthur Glenn McCord; and one great-nephew, Jesse Don McCord.
