Steven Lewis Pendergrass

Funeral services for Steven Lewis Pendergrass, 66, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Brother Walter Pickens officiated. Interment was at Dew Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Pendergrass passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.

He was born in Teague on Nov. 22, 1957, and was a lifelong Freestone County resident. He began painting with his father and later had his own business. He married Karen on June 27, 1981, and shared more than 43 years of marriage together. He loved to buy, sell, trade, and keep motorcycles of all kinds, along with many other vehicles. He taught his family to ride motorcycles and really enjoyed that any of them could ride beside him. He was a fun, loving, gentle and kind husband and dad and loved his girls dearly. He loved his family, especially his two grandsons, Charlie and Jack.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Harris Pendergrass of Teague; one daughter, Christie Riley and husband Michael of Teague; two grandsons, Stephen Charles endergrass Pendergrass Dunn and Jack Warren Riley; his mother, Yvonne Pendergrass; one sister, Jackye Penney; one brother, Dalton Pendergrass; special nephew, Drake Pendergrass and wife Brittney; nephew, River Pendergrass; niece, Tara Penney; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Pendergrass was preceded in death by one daughter, Stephanie Pendergrass; his father, Jack Pendergrass; his maternal grandparents, L.D. and Ada Hartley; one brother-in-law, Dennis Penney; and one nephew, Bryan Penney.
