Graveside services for Amy Michelle Buchanan, 47, were on Wednesday, July 14, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague.
Visitation was held Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home.
Ay Michelle Buchanan of Elgin, passed away at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin on Friday July, 9, 2021, after a lengthy illness.
Amy was born in Austin on Jan. 28, 1974. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Amy graduated from Brentwood Christian High School at Austin in 1992. She graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA degree in English in 2002. Amy loved all kinds of music, Longhorn football, reading and writing. One of her favorite memories was seeing Celine Dion in Concert in Las Vegas with her sister, Julie. Amy loved horseback riding and participating in equestrian event jumping with her thoroughbred horse, Sandpiper. Amy never met a horse she didn’t like. She loved her dog Happy and her cat Stormy dearly. Her hobby was to collect model horses and old books.
Amy is survived by her parents, James Edwin (Ed) Buchanan, and Linda, of Elgin; her sister, Julie Ann Buchanan of Austin; her aunt, Joy Bowers and husband Bill; her cousins, Christina Mims and husband Ritchie and sons, and Brian Bowers and wife Julie and family.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pete and Marcelline Buchanan of Lamesa and Judd and Callie Brown of Teague.
Services for Amy and interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, close to her grandparents, who she loved and enjoyed spending happy times together.
