Dominique Brown knows what it takes to win a state championship. and she’s hoping to instill that in the Teague girls basketball team as their next coach.

Brown takes over for veteran coach Chris Nickleberry, who will become the Dean of Students at Teague Junior High. He will continue to be the Teague ISD girls athletic coordinator.

Brown’s introduction to coaching was a dynamic one. She began her career in the fall of 2012 at Mexia High School. She coached track and was an assistant girls basketball coach. In her first season, the Ladycats won the Class 4A state championship in 2013.

Brown eventually worked her way up to being the first assistant for girls basketball under head coach Randy Barger during her six years at Mexia. She then moved into her first head coaching job at Class 5A Corsicana High School, where she has been the past three years.
