THS student Myers prepares to show swine
The 2020 Freestone County Fair Association will be hosting the market livestock show and sale, as well as the ag mechanic show, next Wednesday, June 17, through Saturday, June 20.
Gabby Myers just finished her sophomore year at Teague High School and is excited to show her swine, Willie, on Friday, June 19, at 8 a.m.
Myers has been showing since she was in the third grade, so this will be eighth year to show at the Freestone County Fair. She showed a lamb through the Teague 4-H her third-fifth grade years. In sixth grade, she started to show swine through the Teague Junior FFA and once in high school she started to show through the Teague FFA.
A swine project takes about four months to prepare for the county show. Myers has to walk and exercise her swine as well as feed each morning. She returns to the ag barn in the evenings to clean, brush, exercise and feed her swine again.
