Lions dig in against ’Dogs, but lose 79-51
The Teague Lions varsity boys basketball team fell short Friday, Jan. 24, against the bounding Crockett Bulldogs, 79-51, in a District 20-3A contest.
Despite falling behind early in the first quarter, the Lions found control of the ball and never let the Bulldogs more than double their score. Outrebounded early on, the Lions turned the tide late in the first quarter with the Bulldogs scoring 6-0 near the five-minute mark.
An early-game 2-pointer by senior Drew Satterwhite brought the score to 13-2, with a noticeable shift in the game as the Lions attempted an offensive comeback. One of two free-throw attempts were successful by Nemier Herod and senior Clark Travis, while Satterwhite hit 2-of-2. Teague trailed by 10 points, 16-6, at the end of the first quarter.
