Build it; hope they’ll come
After three years of considering the feasibility, budgeting the money needed and making detailed plans, the new offices for the Teague Economic Development Corporation will soon become a reality. Construction is under way at its new location next to Rachel’s on Main Street.
The facility will be much larger than the current building located down the street toward the train yard in the 300 block. It will have 2,736 square feet, multiple offices and a board room for meetings. The structure is costing an approximate $100,000, according to Stephanie Burns, president of the local civic organization. Local tax collections are in hand to pay for the building.
One of the nice things about the structure said Burns, is it will help to spruce up the appearance of downtown Teague. It also will have a more professional, modern and attractive look for investors who might be interested in considering the city as a site for various businesses and industries.
