Waweru new addition to Freestone physician roster

Dr. Mark Waweru is the newest addition to the Freestone Health Clinic’s physician team, bringing his well-traveled experience to the clinic’s roster.

Moving to Massachusetts from Kenya in 2007, Waweru (or “Dr. Mark) completed his undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.

From there, he moved to Buffalo, graduating from medical school and completing a residency in the city.

Dr. Mark states that his chosen profession is one he’s wanted since a young age.

“Mostly because there was a need for physicians,” Waweru said.

“I grew up in a pretty rural area in Kenya, not many facilities around, we had to go for to get any care. That’s one of the things I wanted to do.”

Dr. Mark specializes in many procedures, including gynecological procedures, joint injections and skin biopsies.

So far, he has enjoyed his stay with the clinic, which began on Aug. 3.

“[My co-workers are] very nice people, we have three other physicians here and they have been very helpful in helping me get better and getting used to the computers here,” he said. “I can consult them when I need, they are very helpful in that regard.”
