UIL enrollment cutoffs keep Teague in 3A, Division I

According to University Interscholastic League (UIL) cutoff numbers for athletic classifications, the Teague sports teams are staying put for at least the next two years.

Teague High School teams play in the 3A classification. The football team competed in Class 3A, Division I. These assignments will not change.

Teague’s enrollment is 377. According to the UIL, Class 3A, Division I schools have enrollments ranging from 350 students to 514 students. Overall, Class 3A schools have enrollments from 230-514 students.

Teague athletic director and football coach Donnie Osborn said the numbers played out as expected.

“There was no change,” Osborn said. “We knew we were going to be 3A, Division I. Three-fifty was the cutoff. We turned in 377. We expected to be near the bottom of 3A, Division I.”

The seven schools in Teague’s football District 9-3A, Division I all stayed within the enrollment range to remain in that classification.
