Town gathers for Main St. parade

Families gathered down Main Street in Teague on Thursday afternoon, July 2, for the Independence Day Celebration parade. Due to COVID-19, many were spread out and some even wore a mask to stay safe.

Four year old Maze Cathey was named the Best Dressed Cowboy. He rode his pony Charlie Brown during the parade. Maze is the son of Bobby and Brittnee Cathey.

The Best Business Float went to Elara Caring. Bill and Jennifer Capers won the Best Family Float on their tractors. Junkin’ Jo’s Antiques and Boutiques has the Best Decorated ATV. Brice Skinner had the Best Decorated Bike.

“We would like to thank everyone who came out to participate in the Independence Day Celebration parade,” parade organizer Brittany Brown said. “Hopefully we will be back next year bigger and better than ever.”

The parade ended at the Teague Hotel where the Teague Chamber of Commerce held a hamburger and hot dog fundraiser. Colton Lane Morman of Buffalo entertained the crowd with live music until 10 p.m.

The 91st Annual Teague Rodeo that was scheduled for July 2-4 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The parade usually kicks off the 4th of July festivities for Teague, but this year it was the only event that took place.
