TISD keeps mask requirements for indoor activities

All Teague ISD school board members were present at the meeting last Tuesday, March 23, and approved a resolution to keep current mask requirements for indoor activities as they have been all year.

The resolution stated: 1.) Teague ISD will no longer require masks for students, employees, or the public at outdoor events; 2.) Outdoor events may resume at full capacity with social distancing and masks strongly encouraged; 3.) Indoor events may resume at full capacity subject to current mask requirements; 4.) The Board authorizes the Superintendent to re-implement capacity restrictions and mask requirements for outdoor events and capacity restrictions for indoor events as required by GA-34 if COVID-19 hospitalizations in Trauma Service Area G exceed 15 percent or as deemed necessary by the Superintendent due to an increase in local cases or transmissions; and 5.) Nothing in this resolution alters the District’s current mask requirements for indoor activities.

“I want to maintain a safe environment for the students, staff, and community,” TISD Superintendent Chris Skinner said. “I want to finish the school year with minimal quarantines.”

Skinner noted that he still wants to host graduation, band/ FFA/athletic events, banquets, awards ceremonies, prom, operation graduation, field trips/ splash day/in-person events, and try to keep from utilizing the two weeks in June that are on the flex schedule.
