TISD adjusts school calendar

Teague ISD released an adjusted school calendar this past week with accelerated instruction days added throughout the semester. There are seven accelerated instruction days scheduled throughout the spring semester at Teague ISD.

“We are able to do this because of an asynchronous waiver we filed with TEA that allows us to have a more flexible schedule,” TISD Superintendent Chris Skinner said. “These days will be used for a mixture of things including accelerated instruction, professional development, planning, and asynchronous learning.”

Asynchronous learning is a general term used to describe forms of education, instruction, and learning that don’t occur in the same place or at the same time. Most of this learning will take place on google classroom.

Students will only have to attend school in-person on an accelerated instruction day if notified by the school beforehand. Teague ISD will let students know what needs to be completed prior to each of the accelerated instruction days.
