Thefts affect Teague residents over weekend

A rash of vehicle break-ins over last weekend has many in the Teague area discussing ways to keep property safe. This series of thefts took place Sunday, Jan. 6 in community neighborhoods.

“In the information I have received, it indicates vehicle owners left their vehicles unlocked,” Teague Police Chief DeWayne Philpott, said. “Unidentified persons seemed to be checking for unlocked vehicles and, when finding them, rummaged through the vehicles and took some items.”

Philpott explained most of the items were recovered.
