Teague Town Hall Meeting explains 2020 budget process

The municipal budget process is a long and detailed one. The City of Teague hosted a Town Hall Meeting Monday, Feb. 4 in order to get the public involved in this process and explain it at the same time.

“We know it is early to start talking 2020 budget but it is a lengthy process,” Teague City Administrator Theresa Prasil said. “We are hosting these Town Hall’s in order to get the community involved in the process. It is, after all, your tax money we are allocating.”

Prasil began the discussion with an explanation of who is involved in the budget process.

First, the city administrator, the bookkeepper, public works director, library dector, police chief, city council and the citizens the budget will affect are all a part of the budget design.

“There are many ways for you, the public to get involved in the city workings,” Prasil said. “Come to a council meeting, have your voice heard, there is always an open door policy to myself, the mayor and the city council. We want to hear from you.”
