Teague sees 23 percent increase in sales tax revenues

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $705.3 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 8.4 percent more than in April 2018.  These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.

All cities in Freestone County see an increase in sales tax revenue. Fairfield sees an increase with a 11.51 percent change, Teague with a 23.42 percent change, Streetman with a 14.77 change and Wortham with a change of 6.04 percent. Wortham was the only city to see a negative figure of 19.91 percent year to date.

In Limestone County, Coolidge was the only city coming up short for this period with 7.58 percent less than this time last month. All other Limestone County cities saw in crease in sales tax revenue with Groesbeck bringing in 23.54 percent more, Kosse say a 9.88 percent increase, Mexia came up 12.10 percent and Thornton saw a huge 27.05 percent more than this time last month.
