Teague granted continuance in lawsuit

The City of Teague came out the winner in a continuance hearing between Teague and the City of Fairfield, Wednesday, Jan. 23 in the Limestone County District Court.

This continuance hearing was in response to a Plea to the Jurisdiction filed by the City of Fairfield back in December of 2018.

The Plea to the Jurisdiction is a plea basically stating the City of Teague does not have the right to sue the City of Fairfield.

During this plea, the Freestone County District Court gave the City of Teague until Jan. 30, 2019 to produce proof of their suit with paperwork to substantiate the suit.

According to Teague City Administrator, Theresa Prasil, the City of Fairfield has bombarded them with thousands of pieces of paper shortly before the scheduled court date of Jan. 30.

A continuance was filed in Limestone County and the City of Teague was awarded a 30-day continuance to go through the papers and be ready for the Plea to the Jurisdiction Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the Freestone County District Court.
