Teague chief resigns

Freestone County residents donate goods, services to help Houston-area flood victims

After a few days to think it over, Daniel Ramsey resigned Friday afternoon, Aug. 25, as Teague’s chief of police – one week after being suspended by City Administrator Theresa Prasil for allegations of policy infractions.

Mayor Earnest Pack appointed Lt. Dewayne Philpott as interim chief soon after.

“During this week I have done a lot of thinking in regards to the latest issues that have taken place in the City as well as the Police Department,” Ramsey wrote in his letter of resignation submitted to the Teague Board of Aldermen just before they adjourned into closed session. “…The petty grievous allegations outlined in the incomplete bias internal investigation that was conducted, is a personal attack on my integrity as a person and the profession I serve.”
