Teachers retire after 62 years of combined service
Two veteran teachers at Teague Junior High said their goodbyes and retired from the profession last week after a combined 62 years of teaching experience, and both look forward to a calmer future after a tumultuous year.
Vicki Brown James and Kara Reid, both sixth grade teachers, enjoyed a reception with colleagues last week, and cleaned out their classrooms for the final time.
Mrs. James, a self-described “Freeco girl”, is the daughter of the late Oscar Johnson, who was a member of the THS Class of 1955; and Sandra Burkhalter Johnson, a 1959 Fairfield High School graduate.
