Schools try to finalize 2020-2021 year plans

With just four weeks to go before teachers return to campus, and five weeks before students are expected for the first day of school, administrators trying to finalize plans for student safety were told last week that they must wait a little longer for guidance from the state.

Final directives for schools regarding public health guidelines for COVID-19 management had been promised for two weeks, and were to be released from the Texas Education Agency last Tuesday. Not long after TEA said the information would be delayed, a draft version was accidentally released online, staying up long enough for many district administrators to have a look at what was planned.

At press time, no new health and safety guidelines had been released by the state.

Some information was released about remote learning requirements, which will continue to be an option for the next school year.
