Runoff to pick county positions

July’s big events are not just limited to the Independence Day holiday, as election season will again provide intrigue across the county.

The 2020 primary runoff election, set for July 14, will feature two county races on the Republican ballot. Early voting will begin June 29.

Running for the seat of County Commissioner, Precinct 3, will be Lloyd Lynn Lane and Ronnie French. Lane received 49.79 percent of the vote during the March 3 primary, neccesitating a runoff with French, who grabbed 27.48 percent of the vote.

The title of Constable in Precinct 3 will also be contested between Richard Lee McGowan and incumbent Pamela Brackens Barnes. McGowan received 43.09 percent of the vote in March, with Barnes taking 32.66 percent.
