Principal nominee Philpott not a disappointment

In the fall of 1985, newly elected Representative Joe Barton (TX -06) selected Alan Philpott, a senior at Teague High School, as his principal nominee for the Naval Academy. Over the past three decades, the Teague native has used his academy nomination as a stepping stone in achieving a successful military career.

As a senior in high school, Philpott decided to follow in his family’s footsteps and apply for an academy nomination through his United States Congressman, Joe Barton. Philpott was chosen as one of the 25 candidates to be interviewed.
