The Pavilion will rise again

The Park Pavilion Committee met Monday, March 25 to select a bid to demolish the 8th Avenue Park Pavilion, and to also select a structure type to replace the doomed structure.

Four bids for the demolition of the pavilion were received ranging in amounts from $8,500 to over $248,000.

AAAA Absolute Construction out of Teague estimated the cost at $8,500 but did not follow the full scope of work required for the job.

“This is the lowest bid, and they are local,” Teague City Administrator, Theresa Prasil said. “But they did not follow the full scope of work that was required with the bid. They did not address the citizens having the ability to get pieces of the original building from the demolition.”
