Open Records Request questioned in Commissioner’s Court

Things got heated at last week’s commissioners meeting when a candidate’s husband accused an incumbent of violating an Open Records Request recently submitted. Gene Reynolds, whose wife Renee is running against County Clerk Linda Jarvis, alleged Jarvis lied about having a contract with a certain company.

Jarvis, who asked the court to approve an extension on a contract which ended in November 2017, patiently explained to Reynolds that at the time of the request she did not have a contract with said company.

Jarvis said later that because the contract had ended in November 2017, the company would not fulfi ll any Open Records Requests. Reynolds’ request was originally emailed to County Auditor Donna Williams who forwarded the message to Jarvis.
