Editor’s note: These are unofficial election results from the Freestone County Elections office.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 6, Republican Donald Trump was declared the winner of the U.S. presidency over Democrat Kamala Harris.
But, it didn’t take that long in Texas or Freestone County. Texas declared its 40 electoral votes for Trump about 10 p.m. on Election Day.
There were no contested local elections, except the Tax Ratification Election for Oakwood ISD where 88 votes were cast against the increased tax rate, and 51 for the increase.
Uncontested races went to:
77th District Judge – Roy DeFriend
County Attorney – Brian Evans
County Sheriff – Jeremy Shipley
County Tax Assessor-Collector – Daniel Max Ralstin
County Treasurer – Mandy Chavers
Precinct 1 Commissioner – Andy Bonner
Precinct 3 Commissioner – Lloyd Lynn Lane
Precinct 1 Constable – Buck Bonner
Precinct 2 Constable – Jack Fitch
Precinct 3 Constable – Richard McGowan
Precinct 4 Constable – Ken Sessions
In Freestone County, the Trump/Vance ticket garnered 7,472 votes, with 5,633 coming via early voting. The Harris/Walz ticked received 1,487 votes, 1,036 via early voting.
Republican Ted Cruz won re-election to the U.S. Senate. In Freestone County, he received 7,172 votes to Democrat Collin Allred’s 1,590.
U.S. Rep of District 6 Jake Ellzey also won re-relection. He garnered 4,605 Freestone County votes to his challenger’s 792. U.S. Rep of District 17 Pete Sessions won re-election, winning Freestone County with 2,730 votes to. His challenger’s 571.
Freestone County also voted for District 13 State Representative incumbent Angelia Orr – 7,187 votes to 1,396 for Albert Hunter.
