News DPS sergeant arrives in Freestone County

There’s a new trooper in town.

Sgt. Dan Baker, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, introduced himself at the regular meeting of the Freestone County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, June 16, as the new sergeant in Freestone County. He replaces Philip Davis.

Baker served seven years in Corsicana. Prior to that he served in Austin and Bastrop.

“I’ve been trying to get back up to this area,” Baker said. “My wife is from Lemon Grove. This is where I feel like we need to be. I’m glad to be here.”
