March rain above normal

March has followed suit with January in February in Freestone County, bringing above normal rainfall through the first quarter of the year.

There were eight days in March with measurable rainfall, for a total of 6.33 inches. The greatest one-day total of rainfall was 1.96 inches on both March 4 and March 21.

Normal rainfall for March in the county is 4.43 inches. The record wet March over the past 26 years was 9.54 inches of rain in 2012. The driest March was 0.25 inches in 2011.

Rainfall total for the year now stands at 19.07 inches. Normal rainfall for the first quarter is 10.39 inches.
