Making the decision to close school campuses

After monitoring weather conditions and forecasts throughout the weekend, and taking a statewide disaster declaration into account, Teague Superintendent Chris Skinner notified parents and students Tuesday that school would be canceled through Friday..

“All classes and extracurricular activities scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 16 through Friday, Feb. 19 for Teague ISD have been canceled,” he said.

Superintendent Skinner cited a number of reasons, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Disaster Declaration for Severe Weather; a Hazardous Weather Conditions warning from the National Weather Service that specifically included warnings about wind chill, a hard freeze, and a winter storm for the upcoming days; the uncertainty of electrical and water supply; and the Texas Department of Transportation’s guidance to limit travel.
