Local home elevated to prevent further flooding

An unbelievable sight can be seen driving down Mimosa Lane in Teague. Over the past two months, the home of Ricky and JoAnn Sims at 28 Mimosa Lane has been elevated 14 feet from its original benchmark, helping to prevent future flooding issues.

According to Ricky Sims, the contract for the elevation project is six months. However, after two months, the project is already at 60 percent completion. Arkitektura Development, Inc., a company based in Kemah, is elevating the house.
