Lewis will direct EDC

 Betty Hutto Lewis is the new executive director for the Teague Economic Development Corporation. The board of directors of the organization selected her last week following an intensive search of a qualified candidate.

The mission of the Economic Development Corporation is to enhance the strength and stability of the Teague-area economy through the support of existing industries and businesses, the attraction of new industries and businesses which bring new capital and employment opportunities into the community, increasing tourism, and improving the quality of life by broadening the tax base.

Lewis brings to the workplace university training with a bachelor’s and master’s degree and substantial experience in marketing. Her resume reflects that she has been a successful professional for many years.

While tackling her new position, Lewis said she plans to travel about Teague to meet the people, especially those involved in their businesses and to learn their expectations.  In November she will go through training which she expects will give her a good scope about basic economic development.
