Jones signs with Navarro with Band Scholarship

Teague senior Ray’cheal Jones learned last week she is the recipient of a Navarro College Band Scholarship and will be part of the marching band as well as the concert, jazz, and pep band.

The 6-year band veteran plays the bass clarinet and also plans to learn percussion and participate in the drumline at the college.

She says her older sister, 2012 Buffalo High School graduate and drum major Shay Jones, served as her inspiration.

“I always wanted to play bass clarinet because my big sister did,” she said. “She’s the one who got me into band. I am following in her footsteps by going to Navarro. The only difference is, I will be in the band.”
