Illness closes area schools
Over the last week Teague, Dew and Fairfield ISDs have closed their doors and cancelled activities due to an unusually high number of illnesses mainly strep and flu across the districts.
“With the school closed, our custodial team will be able to deep clean the entire district,” Teague ISD Superintendent, Chris Skinner, said. “It is our hope that this separation will give our students and staff time to take car of their health.”
Teague ISD closed Friday, Feb. 1 and reopened Tuesday, Feb. 5.
It was reported many students experiencing several health issues such as flu, strep throat and stomach virus.
Fairfield ISD was closed Thursday and Friday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
