Granddaughter finds missing grandfather alive behind home

After a long search led by about 250 volunteers and first-responders, 88-year old Dale McCeig of Freestone County was found alive in a creek bed behind his home about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Melissa Crenshaw, Mc-Ceig’s granddaughter, and friend Trisha Wren were the first to locate McCeig. First-responders immediately rushed to the scene.

McCeig, who had been dealing with sub-freezing temperatures through Monday night and wind chill in the 20s Tuesday morning, was transported to Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
