Gillet happy with change from nursing to firefighting

The Teague Volunteer Fire Department is one of the best in Texas and Matt Gillet is one of the dedicated firefighters who keeps it on top.

Gillet has been in the business of protecting people for almost 23 years. Following his graduation from Teague High School in 1994, he decided to become a Registered Nurse. He enrolled at Navarro College, but it didn’t take him long to realize that nursing wasn’t for him and he changed to Kilgore Fire Academy to become a firefighter.

While Gillet was going through school, he worked with the Freestone Ambulance Service.
