Freestone may close voting box

County commissioners are discussing the permanent closure of the Liberty voting box which stands at the intersection of County Roads 300 and 302 in the Butler area of Precinct 1. The one-room building could use some renovation work, but Precinct 1 Commissioner Andy Bonner thinks it should be closed.

“There’s no electricity, no restroom or air conditioning, the floor is rotting, it’s not handicap accessible,” Bonner said at last week’s county meeting. “It needs to be closed.”
