Freestone County Commisioner's Court approves potential virus funding

During a regular meeting of Freestone County Commissioner’s Court on June 17, commissioners approved a resolution that will allow for a potential influx of supply reimbursement.

At the meeting, commissioners considered and approved of a resolution for the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program, a program created by the Bureau of Justice Assistance to assist in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program, according to the BJA website, “will provide funding to assist eligible states, local units of government, and tribes in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the coronavirus.”

Commissioners had to approve the resolution in order to apply for the program, believing it to be “in the best interest of the citizens.”
