Early morning thunderstorm brings high winds, lightning

Residents of parts of Teague awoke Monday morning, Oct. 21, to a power outage, sporadic tree limb damage and no Internet or telephone service.

A cold front which hit warm moist air triggered thunderstorms in the area, some severe, as it traveled in an eastward direction.

About 3 a.m. a storm with strong winds moved into Teague, bringing loud thunder and graphic lightning and causing a transformer between Eighth and Ninth Streets on Cedar Street to blow. A number who saw it happen reported on Facebook it was quite a spectacular sight.
