Court talks stray pets, other county issues

A bevy of items were discussed during the most recent meeting of Freestone County Commissioners’ Court on Sept. 2, its’ first post-budget and tax rate meeting.

The meeting brought a slate of new business, but one of the main concerns came during public comment, with a local resident complaining of stray dogs and cats running loose around Freestone.

Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley noted that unless a dog appears vicious or threatening, his office is unable to do anything about the stray pets. The Sheriff’s Office is currently “inun dated” with phone messages about stray pets throughout the area.
