Court considers freeport goods exemption
Commissioners are considering exempting freeport goods in Freestone County in an effort to attract manufacturing companies. Fairfield Economic Development Corporation Director David Fowler presented the information to the court last week and said he is also working with the school district and the City of Fairfield to obtain a triple freeport exemption.
“This will attract businesses to come here, build a warehouse, create jobs here because it’s an incentive for them to come,” said Fowler.
“The City of Fairfield has exempted. I have met with FISD and are pretty sure they will approve it in November.”
