County tax rate flat, budget falls 2.5 percent

Freestone County commissioners adopted a new budget and tax rate following the final public hearing on the subject last week.

This year’s budget, which goes into effect Oct. 1, will have less revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by $569,780, about 2.5 percent lower than last year. The property tax rate remained the same at 0.339.
