Competition is all part of the family dynamics

For most seniors in high school, life just seems to travel by with little to slight variances from one day to the next. That is, until the day of or after graduation. But for Teague’s head basketball coach, Chris Nickleberry, daughters Ashley and KaDaja, life took a noticeably different turn. It happened the day after the girl’s basketball team lost during the regional quarterfi nals.

Coach Nickleberry needed a break. He said, “I took off the day after the game. It was different. It was blank. All the seniors, all the laughter and stuff they do was gone. I am going to miss all those personalities.”

KaDaja said, “I will miss it. It will be weird not going to practice and I will miss being around [Dad] and my teammates.”

And for Ashley, it hit home a little harder at the moment she realized this was it.
